Recently, concerns have emerged about the potential fallout if a leading presidential candidate were to lose their eligibility due to political manipulation. Though unimaginable in a fair democratic system, if such a scenario were to unfold, the consequences could be monumental.

First, the candidate's chosen successor would likely take up the mantle, riding on a wave of public support, sympathy, and even anger. History has shown that when prominent figures fall victim to political schemes, their allies often gain strength. For example, in 1990s Turkey, influential conservative leader Necmettin Erbakan faced political suppression, only for his movement to gain even greater prominence in Turkish politics thereafter. This demonstrates how political repression can, paradoxically, rally support and consolidate opposition.

If the current administration uses its five-year term to excessively wield power, a political backlash may be inevitable. The people do not tolerate oppression, and the harsher the political suppression, the stronger the response. In this case, the subsequent government might very well consist of the very forces the current administration seeks to undermine. Rather than disappearing, the candidate's political force could reemerge, and those responsible for the political manipulation could face severe consequences.

Political power is finite, but the will of the people is boundless. While a government may attempt to deceive its people, public sentiment cannot be indefinitely suppressed. The current administration would do well to remember this enduring truth.
